Holidays!

During the first weekend of the winter break I had to work. On Christmas eve I went over to my aunts house and hung out with the family. Me and one of my male cousins shared stories about what we planed to do different for the next year and watched football. My aunt taught me how to make gumbo and she made me clean the crab and chicken that was being used for the gumbo. It maybe my uncles last Christmas, due to lung cancer so i'm making sure I spend as much time with him as possible. You never know what the new year is going to bring, just to be sure i'm making an effort to just be present for him. On Christmas day, even though I didn't go to my parents house, they passed by my aunts house as well as my other aunts and cousins. That saved me a trip from going around the bay area to see them and give them their presents. I was happy when they came over, I received a life lecture from my aunt Wanda while she was intoxicated and had a chance to be filled in on her life history. My favorite present was receiving gift cards, can't ask for anything better. I also had the time this year to visit my old foster mom, who was ecstatic to see me as well as her family, whom I haven't seen in years. I'm understanding the goodness in myself and how I effect others in a positive way, even with out having to be in a position to give material things that bring happiness.

Internship Readiness

Some one who is internship ready, in their evaluation has more positives then negatives. Some one who has the confidence in knowing they can conquer all task independently as well as group tasks. I plan to demonstrate more confidence in the way I communicate and do presentations. I plan to be more assertive with follow ups, such as returning emails and calls. I also plan to work fully on my time management and priorities, prioritizing the most important first and  less important last. Also I need to manage making to little things, like energy vibe, consistency, preparation, going to sleep at a set time, doing all my work the night before including taking a shower and setting my clothes for the next day. Following through with my teachers about a homework assignment the day before it is due. Making my time fully available so I can achieve and improve, both in my academical and extra curricular activities.

Best and the worst job

  • My best job was working at villa Marin. My primary responsibility was to coordinate the dinning room and serve food. I would come in get my time card and clock in. Then I would go look on our daily to do list and see what tasks needed to be done for that day. I would have to remember what appropriate side needed to be served and the side that needs to be busted. Also I learned the formal way of placing the different types of spoons, forks and knifes following glasses on the table. I loved working with all my staff members and my managers. We all had a connection, ended up that the mainstream of people that work there went to my high school. The way my manager manages the kitchen and dinning room section gave me a chance to grow and the time to reciprocate what I had learned. For internship this taught me time management, patience, respect for different social culture,  and lastly how to work a part of a team. This also was my worst job because I was always late, talked with the residence and staff more than I served. For the residents that gave me a hard time I would mess up their orders on purpose. It was a constant mess, and food stayed staining my clothes. The lessons I learned was how dependent my job was on me during my shift. Also that my time management needed to be evaluated.
